Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Kolkata’s director, Ms. Meena Kak, a true teacher at heart, shares her personal words of encouragement for students this Teacher’s Day. In addition to encouragement, she also gives us students a deep insight into the minds of the teachers who guide and nurture us, leaving an indelible mark in young minds for years to come.
I wish to be born in your age again to experience life from a different perspective. Life, where friends matter the most, and parents and teachers can also be your friends. Another aspect of it is that you are equipped with a tool that has given a different dimension to your life – TECHNOLOGY. Today, you are more confident, perseverant, focused, goal oriented and at the same time possess an immense zest for life. The tech knowledge that youngsters have is amazing but using this knowledge to one’s benefit and not to hurt others, is the need of the hour. Your boundless energy can be used in creative pursuits. With technology playing a massive role in every industry, learn the right skills and plan careers based on the innovations of the near past.
‘Life and Family’ economies need to be learnt for the ‘survival of the fittest’. Compete with your own self rather than competing with others. Respect your individuality to receive respect from others. Fear of failures stops one from experimenting and thinking ‘out of the box’. So, accept failures and put all your energy of mind and muscle to bounce back and achieve the unachievable. Aim high, dream big and put the foundation of positivity and perseverance to achieve your goals. Give back something to your school and society now as a young ambassador, so that you are ready to contribute to the country and make this planet a better place to live in. There’s a deep sense of fulfillment in knowing that you are contributing to a more loving world. Basic life skills such as compassion, humility, respect, and kindness creates a positive aura around you. Listening patiently and respecting others’ views are the hall marks for success in any phase of your life.
Take responsibility of your own learning. Every action has a reaction, so be ready to face the consequences of your actions, which might be good or bad, acceptable or unacceptable. Just don’t work on your EQ or IQ but RQ too (resilience quotient). You have braved the pandemic with rebuilt resilience. Our hearts fill with pride to see how you faced the challenging situation of the pandemic with grit and determination. Now, it is heartening to see smiling faces again running in the school corridors, sharing tiffins, requesting teachers for an extra Physical Education class for being disciplined and obedient.
So dear children, lets value technology not just as a part of Education but the education itself. Interpersonal communication, collaboration, creativity will help you to face varied challenges of the future. Feeling motivated? Remember, motivation doesn’t always work like Superman’s power. It is rather a quiet but clear voice within us, that tells us it’s a new day today and one has to keep trying.
I started this article by sharing with you about my desire to be born again. I learn that each morning, we are born again. What we do today is what matters the most. So, be happy, strive for the best and do a little good for others… today and every day.
