The all-girls “Team Urja”, comprising of six students Samara Chauhan, Laavanya Bansal, Sanjana Chauhan, Nanaki Bawa, Samaya Chauhan and Vidita Diwan of Class IX, Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, New Delhi, won the Second Prize in “F1 in Schools India National Finals 2022”, organized by Time of Sports Solutions Pvt Ltd at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus. “Team Blaze” were the winner of the Championship while “Team Infinity Racing” was declared the Second Runners up.
Congratulating the winners, Mr. Navtez Singh Bal, Executive Director, Microsoft, said, “It is heartening to see the young achievers performing so well during the Championship.
Extracurricular activities are extremely crucial for the all-round development of children, and they must enthusiastically participate in all competitions, depending on their area of interest. Winning or losing is not important, it is the skills which are developed in the students during the competitions which develop their personality and instill confidence in them.”
“F1 in Schools” is the world's largest science, technical, engineering and mathematics challenge where students between the age group of 9 to 19 years participate and also design miniature Formula 1 cars using CAD/CAM devices, through CNG machines. Students develop various life skills such as project management, soft skills, problem solving and critical thinking during this process.
The winning teams were awarded by Mr. Navtez Singh Bal, Executive Director, Microsoft, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, President & CEO, Minda Corporation, Mrs. Pooja Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Film and Drama and Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology and Mr. Yashraj Singh, Chief of F1in Schools India.
More than 300 students representing 55 teams from 31 schools including Pathways World School, Gurugram, Avalon Heights International School, Navi Mumbai, Heritage International Xperiential School, JBCN International School, Oshiwara, Chennai Public School, Bombay Scottish School, and Lotus Valley International School, amongst others participated in the championship and qualified for the regional competitions.
The top 3 teams from the event will represent India at the Global Finals in 2023 which is held adjacent to the Formula One Grand Prix every year.
