The opening ceremony of the new session (2023-24) of the Evening School of St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore was successfully organised on the 12th of January 2023 on the auspicious occasion of National Youth Day, the birth anniversary of the great Indian saint & monk Swami Vivekananda.
The day was celebrated at the Monirampore Campus a little away from the Main School situated on the banks of the river Ganga. With a fair number of seventy-five girls, the opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Lady Principal of St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore, Mrs J. Biswas in the kind presence of guests, teachers, students of the evening school and their parents. The programme commenced with a Sit & Draw Competition where children of classes VI, VII & VIII participated to show their zealous creativity in sketching and painting. Some drew a beautiful winter morning, a perfect blend with the season while the rest sketched artistically their very own evening school where they come to climb the ladder of freedom and self-expression.
The main program was introduced by Ms. Priyanjali Bej who is the Evening School in charge. She called upon the girls to receive their session kits from the principal ma’am. The girls were happy to mark a new start early this year. They enthusiastically participated in the quiz contest which consisted of three rounds.
Students were also informed about the importance of English & Mathematics by senior teacher Ms. Sayantani Ghosh when she explained how both disciplines are very much applicable in daily life. Winners of both the Sit & Draw and Quiz were given attractive prizes.
The Evening School for Girls at the Barrackpore Campus is a PROUD TO BE AUGUSTINIAN INITIATIVE where the school’s primary vision is to focus on the growth and development of the girl children who belong to the less privileged sections of society. With such a focus the school started the Evening Classes with a team of efficient and willing teachers to teach, build, appreciate, encourage and recognize the hard work and brilliance of such children in academics and Co-Curricular Activities. Additionally, the focus was to enforce these children with knowledge and safeguard the health standards by providing them with health and hygiene tips and helping them to create consciousness about the environment in order to enable them to strive for achievement and success. English, Mathematics, Computer, Art & Craft, Dance & Music and Self Defence are the significant disciplines delivered at the Evening School to provide the students with basic knowledge and concept.
