Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, as the lead collaborator, hosted the CBSE Capacity Building Programme for School Counselors and Wellness Teachers on August 29, 2024. The programme aimed to identify the well-being needs of children attending the regular schooling system and sensitising the schools to the growing needs for comprehensive counselling services.

Niti Shanker Sharma (Deputy Secretary CBSE and Incharge Counseling, Media and PR), Geeta Mehrotra (National Master Trainer, Expression India) and Aprajita Dixit (Senior Child and Clinical Psychologist RCI at the Institute of Mental Health & Life Skills, New Delhi) helped the participants to develop a more comprehensive and informed perspective of psychosocial needs of students and guided them towards reorienting the role of School Counsellors and Wellness Teachers.

The inaugural ceremony began with the symbolic lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries present. This was followed by a welcome address, felicitation of the resource persons, and a cultural program that included the school song by the choir group and mime and dance performances. The program continued with an insightful address by the Director of the Academy, Meena Kak, setting the tone for the workshop.
Director Kak rightly said, "We need to lend helping hand to our students of impressionable age who have to face unforeseen challenges, peer pressure and expectations issues from Parents. These workshops equip teachers to ease out the stress, develop resilience among students.”

It was a moment of immense honour for all the participants when Mr. Himanshu Gupta,CBSE Secretary, joined the workshop virtually. He focussed on bringing counselling at the centre of school education.
The resource persons for the participants diligently organised a plethora of activities on the various themes of the wellness program. The session covered many themes, from Identifying Common Emotional and Behavioral Challenges in Children, Working towards a Holistic Ecosystem Model for Well-Being, etc.
The CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training session was conducted successfully by the emergency team of CMRI. The session aimed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to perform CPR effectively in emergency situations.
The workshop was an insightful learning experience for all. It provided the school counsellors and wellness teachers a range of innovative strategies which would enhance newer understanding and managing Psycho-Social emergencies in schools. The program ended with a vote of thanks delivered by LSA’s Principal, Jaya Misra where she expressed her gratitude towards the organisers, resource persons, dignitaries, participants and organizing committee who made this programme successful.
