In Pictures: Annual Sports 2022 at schools across Kolkata

Sports play a vital role in student’s mental and physical development. With this imperative mindset, Apeejay School, Salt Lake organized Annual Sports Meet on the 3 February 2023 at Salt Lake FE ground. The Sports Day commenced with the sub-junior section. Students from LKG to Class 2 participated in events like ‘Fighting Virus’ and ‘Say no Plastic’, which integrated ethics with sports.Even though we distributed gold, silver and bronze to the children, every one was a winner today, the display of competitiveness while maintaining such sportsmanship as well as the confidence alongside the humble gestures portrayed by the students makes us proud about the fact that these kids are a part of the Apeejay school Salt Lake family.
On 17th December, The Heritage School Kolkata organized its annual sports for the Senior School students in a grand way. The inaugural session of the event was addressed by Indian International Cricketer Mr. Shahbaz Ahmed as the Chief Guest of the event followed by Prof. M.Mathirajan, Chief Research Scientist, Indian Institute of Science as the Guest of Honour. The event witnessed huge participation from the students of classes 5 to 12 who actively participated in the various events organized by the School starting from long jump, race, drill, martial arts and many more.
The Heritage School
Gulmohur High School hosted its 48th Annual Sports Day on 9th December 2022. The Chief Guest was Ms.Purnima Mahato (Dronacharya Awardee, Archery Coach Tata Steel) , the Guest of Honour was Mr. Manish Verma (General Manager, BIW Factory - TMCV). The highlights of the event included recognizing and awarding the students who brought laurels for the school at the National level in sports.
Gulmohur High School
On 9th & 10th December 2022, an event that’s truly one of its kind took place on the premises of the Metal and Steel Factory in Ishapore. St. Augustine Day’s School, Shyamnagar organised an Annual Sports Meet for their students to display their athletic adroitness with impeccable poise.

B.D.M. International celebrated the Second Day of the Annual Sports Meet (2022-2023) at Gitanjali Stadium (Kolkata) on 20.12.2022 with the zeitgeist of a magnificent sports event typically witnessed in the likes of famed global platforms. The school reeled in the fervour of sterling sportsmanship as the students from classes VI to XII of the esteemed institution participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
B.D.M International
B.D.M. International celebrated its Annual Sports Meet (2022-2023) at Gitanjali Stadium (Kolkata) spanning two days (19.12.2022 and 20.12.2022) A total of thirty engaging events were lined up for the pupils ranging from toddlers to Std. V. The events of the day were tailored in a way that catered to the innocent sensibilities of children.
B.D.M International
Bhavan's Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir organised the Annual Sports Meet 2022 on the 22nd of December 2022 in the school ground at FA Block, Sector 3, Salt Lake. The white members then escorted the dignitaries to the flag-hoisting ceremony. The melodious tune of the Bhavans anthem soon filled the air. The March Past of the four houses soon commenced. A colourful drill display was then presented by the students of classes 6 and 7. A number of track and field events followed like flat races and relay races.
Bhavan's G K Vidyamandir, Salt Lake, Kolkata
Sri Sri Academy, Kolkata organized their Annual Sports Meet on 11th December, 2022. The event took place at the Eastern Railway Sports Complex. Mr. Arun Lal, former Indian Cricketer and coach of the West Bengal cricket team was the Chief Guest for the day. The track events such as the flat races, hurdles, relay and tug of war offered nail biting competition. The major awards included Best Marching House which was bagged by Bhakti House.
Sri Sri Academy
The event was inaugurated with an oath taking ceremony. All the students and teachers were present. Oath taking ceremony was followed by the march past and drill performances. The events included flat race, skipping race, three legged race, balance race, needle thread race, etc. The events concluded with 'Go as you like'. Prizes were distributed among the proud achievers. The active participation of many students with others cheering for them, made the event successful.
Muralidhar Girls'School (HS)
Lakshmipat Singhania Academy’s 25th Annual Intra-mural Sports was held with great fanfare on the 11th January, 2023, from 9:30 a.m at the Gitanjali Sports Stadium, Kasba. The Opening March Past was a grand display of the four houses’ synchronised moves and discipline.Various events for the children offered them a great opportunity to display their stamina on the sports field before a big gathering of parents and teachers. There were fun races for parents, ex – students and the support staff of the school too.
Lakshmipat Singhania Academy
The sports championship opened which was followed by the Oath taking ceremony by the Head boy and Head girl along with the Captains and Vice Captains of the four houses - Sharad, Shisir, Hemant, and Vasant. The participants waved the respective House flags as they moved around the field. The races began in true spirit for different groups of boys and girls under various categories such as - 50 mt, 75 mt, 100 mt, 200 mt, and relay race. There was also memory race, shot put, kick the ball, passing the ball, continuous skipping, and lastly the Tug of war. All the houses gave their best to perform and in the end, Shisir (Blue) house won the Sports championship and the runners up ns trophy were the joint winner - Sharad (Red) and Basant (Green), 2023 and the Champions trophy were handed over by the respected principal madam.
