What is the image that comes to mind when you think of Karate? In most cases, it's either Rambo or Bruce Lee. Well, there is no count of how many lives such movies have touched upon.
Being the winner of the Republic Day Cup National Karate Championship in 2022, 13-year-old Saiswaroop from Kolkata has made his mark in the highly strenuous and demanding sport - karate. His inspiration of course, stems from the protagonists of these movies and how they defended themselves, their families and their friends through Karate.
Speaking about his experience of winning the 18 under 18 awards, Saiswaroop says, “It was a thrilling experience and was very well organised. Hearing my name called out on stage, where there were so many competitors, made me really excited and happy.”
Certified with a B rank in 1st Dan level from the Okinawa Shorin Ryu Shorinkan Karate-do Federation of India, Saiswaroop’s skills are taking him places and rewarding him immensely.
Like many other sportspersons, for Saiswaroop, Karate is more than just defence, it is a source of happiness.
Sharing his aspirations, this powerhouse of talent is shooting for the stars. He says. “My dream is to represent India in international championships like the Olympics, and Commonwealth Games in the field of Karate and Martial arts.”
Having received a black belt at this young age, Sai’s goals are well focused and he is working towards them. “I want to keep getting better and have more black belts and get trained in Japan,” he concluded.
The Telegraph Online Edugraph wishes Saiswaroop the best of luck in his future endeavours!
