As the rains bring back the scorched and shrivelled City of Joy to a new rhythm of life, the oldest society of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata - the Bengali Literary Society (BLS) brings an eventful start to its new chapter of 2024 with "Tomar Priyo Ritu Borsha Tayi" held this 23 August.

The society which has been consistent in preserving and protecting the rich culture and heritage of "bangaliyana", has once again proved its dedication and commitment to its cause. BLS stood by its promise of enriching the already rich heritage of the culture with stellar performances and jamming session, as the nature bestowed it's blessings with refreshing rains on the day of the event- a perfect amalgamation of monsoon and its celebrations!

"Tomar Priyo Ritu Borsha Tayi"- the monsoon celebratory event was filled with colourful dance and melodious song performances by the members of the society, in keeping with the very theme of Borsha. The premises of the college, particularly the gymnasium, transformed into an enchanting land of monsoon, as the decor team adorned the area with handmade craft and origami.

The audience and performers were all decked up in hues of blue and white representing monsoon. The two groups of dancers, gave no less than magical performances, as they gracefully embraced the rhythms of the monsoon songs welcoming the rains to the parched surroundings. One of the major attractions of the event was the melodious songs by the talented choir of the society.

Among all these events, the major highlight of the day was, the declaration of the pre-pujo extravaganza, "Bodhon" 2024, by the Deputy President and all the core committee members of the society. Bodhon is an event encompassing every emotion as a Bengalee awaits the arrival of Goddess Durga.

Despite being an apparently small-scale event of BLS, this was a huge success. The voices of the audience were synced with the Bengali monsoon songs, and reverberated all across the premises of the college, as the rain continued to wash away the gloomy and despondent aura of the weather.

As celebrations of monsoon- "Tomar Priyo Ritu Borsha Tayi" came to an end with an enthralling jamming session with the audience, the declaration of the next event, Bodhon, again sparked hopes of more fun, entertainment and happiness, both in the hearts of the audience as well as the members of the society.
