The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Friday asked principals of all ICSE and ISC schools to help students from economically backward families and Group D employees of their institutions during the lockdown.

Gerry Arathoon, the secretary and chief executive of the CISCE, wrote to the schools on Friday, asking the heads of the institutions to deal the present situation with the diligence, and attention and caution it deserves.

“… Do spare a thought for the well-being of the less privileged students and domestic Staff in your school and provide them with any kind of assistance, wherever possible,” the letter read.

“Please keep in mind, the present situation should be dealt with the diligence, attention and caution it deserves,” he said in the letter

The principal of an ICSE school in Calcutta said the institution was is touch with students from low-income groups and necessary arrangements are being made to provide monetary help to them during the lockdown. Arathoon also asked the schools to abide by all the directives of the government, health department and the local administration.

“Given the present circumstances, you are requested to please abide by every directive issued by the Government, the Health Department and the Local Administration from time to time,” the letter read.
