The Game Awards was the event to be seen at for the gaming community. Baldur’s Gate 3 was crowned game of the year and a number of new titles were announced. Here are a few games that we are looking forward to.

The Finals

Embark, a new studio created by former Battlefield developers, has announced its debut project, which will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Las Vegas is the Season’s new map and there’s a lot of bright neon lights, slot machines, boxers, Elvis impersonators and aliens.

Light No Fire

Sean Murray of Hello Games has revealed the new project — a fantasy multiplayer game set on an Earth-sized virtual world. The game will feature multiple biomes, just like our Earth. The trailer shows the player flying about on a dragon to swimming underwater.

Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series X

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now out on Xbox Series X, Larian Studios announced as it took home the top award at The Game Awards. Larian Studios’ Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game was originally released on Mac and Windows PC on August 3 before it came to PlayStation 5 in early September.

Final Fantasy XVI: Two new story DLCs

Final Fantasy XVI players will soon be able to enjoy two new DLC chapters for the critically-acclaimed action-RPG. Echoes of the Fallen has launched on PlayStation Store. The second DLC, entitled The Rising Tide, releases spring next year. Both are paid-for DLC, but players can purchase the Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass to enjoy both chapters at a discounted price. Echoes of the Fallen unlocks a new story, battles, weapons, accessories, level cap and more.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons remake

The indie hit from 2013 that follows an older and younger brother on a journey to obtain medicine for their ailing father is getting a remake. The original Brothers was a single-player game where one person controlled both brothers simultaneously. The remake is coming on February 28 to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC (via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.com). This remake has been rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 and, according to publisher 505 Games, it will “remain faithful to the original game”. There will be a new local co-op mode that will allow two players to control one of the brothers.

Marvel’s Blade

Big news: From Arkane, the developers of Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop, comes their take on Marvel's Blade. Bethesda Softworks and Marvel Games have announced that Arkane Lyon, developer of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Deathloop and Dishonored series, is creating a new mature, single-player, third-person game based on the comic book hero Blade. “In honour of Blade’s 50th anniversary, we have found the perfect match for the Daywalker in Arkane Lyon, a studio of uncompromising artists who continually push the boundaries of game design and innovation,” said Bill Rosemann, VP and creative director of Marvel Games.

OD

Hideo Kojima, known for creating many successful series, like Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid, has teased a mystery Xbox game called OD. “[OD] is a game, don’t get me wrong, but it’s at the same time a movie, but at the same time a new form of media,” Kojima said. The game will feature Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer and Udo Kier.

Rise of the Ronin

The Sony-published Team Ninja action game will be released on March 22 exclusively on PS5. It’s Japan at the end of the 19th century, characterized by the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate, a period of oppression and stagnation. “It was a time when innovators like Ryoma Sakamoto and Shoin Yoshida sought to modernise the country. The game’s Ronin protagonist will find their destiny linked to these characters in several different ways. Your choices will shape how your character algins or clashes with story characters and their factions.”

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

You can now take a close look at Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which looks dark. “I can feel them on my skin,” Senua says. “Each death, inked in blood. I won't stop fighting for them until the very last beat fades away.” According to the official synopsis, Hellblade 2 will see Senua return “in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without”. The game is coming next year on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass and PC via Steam.

Exodus

Archetype Entertainment has revealed its new sci-fi RPG. Actor Matthew McConaughey appeared on stage to reveal that he will be voicing a character in the upcoming RPG. The game will focus on the butterfly effect that choices can have over the years. The trailer appears to cast players as a traveller jetting around the universe, avoiding enemies known as Celestials. The official description reads: “As The Traveler, you are humanity’s last hope. Your job is to steal alien weapons and technology from the most powerful beings in the universe, the Celestials — humanity’s greatest enemy. But there’s a catch — Time Dilation.”
