The country’s oldest B-school XLRI Jamshedpur and Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore in Tamil Nadu have inked an agreement to jointly develop and offer management programmes and collaborative research for healthcare professionals.
The MoU was signed on Thursday at a private ceremony at CMC Vellore by director XLRI-Delhi-NCR Fr K.S. The information was released to the media on Saturday at XLRI Jamshedpur.
The first academic course through this collaboration will be launched in January next year.
“This is a significant step towards creating affordable, accessible, high-quality healthcare services in India’s journey towards sustainable and inclusive growth…. We would require a significant number of professionals trained in cutting-edge management practices relevant to the Indian healthcare sector. We are extremely excited to partner with CMC Vellore in our endeavour to help address this growing need for the future of the nation,” said Fr K.S Casimir after the signing of the agreement.
Addressing the gathering, Fr George Sebastian added: “In our platinum jubilee year, this partnership with CMC Vellore will help open new vistas for both the pioneering institutions working towards the greater good of the nation. We also look forward to
contributing towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by providing highly skilled, responsible and ethical healthcare professionals to help address the crucial healthcare needs of the nation……This is therefore a moment to rejoice.”
Dr Vikram Mathews said there was a huge need for enhancing administrative skills while managing healthcare organisations and this collaboration and courses developed through this tie-up would address the needs, especially of the mission network organisations.
He also said it was a privilege to collaborate with a premium institution in
the country that shared a similar vision to CMC Vellore focusing on excellence in education and training.
Dr Solomon Sathishkumar said good management of healthcare institutions was key to their growth and development.
“This requires formal training in management and this collaboration with XLRI
will enable unique excellent training courses with practical hands-on experience.
A milestone is achieved through this collaboration wherein premium organisations join hands to create impactful and need-of-the-hour academic programmes, with the goal to improve healthcare in our country,” he said.
XLRI is currently celebrating its platinum jubilee year, having been established in 1949 whereas CMC Vellore was established in 1900. XLRI and CMC are pioneers in their respective fields with both institutions consistently ranked as the top private educational institutions in the country.
“XLRI was the first to start a full-time management programme in industrial welfare in 1953 and successfully pioneered many educational and management development programmes through online mode since 2002. CMC started India’s first school of nursing and has been at the forefront of medical advances that include India’s first open-heart surgery, and first kidney transplantation among others,” an XLRI spokesperson said.
