Julien Day School, Ganganagar

Julien Day School, Ganganagar, celebrated Children's Day by hosting its annual fete on the grounds of Julian Nursery School on November 11.

Families, students and community members visited the fete. There were different stalls offering visitors handmade crafts, delectable snacks and games.

The aroma of freshly baked goods and the excited chatter from the games' stalls added to the eclectic ambience. There was chaat, biryani and ice cream up for grabs, among other treats. Some of the games were 7 Up 7 Down, Bagadoli, Fishing the Rat and Pocket the Queen. There were prizes for the winners.

A live music section and a dance floor were other attractions for the visitors. A lucky draw event also got them engrossed. All the food and fun stalls were accessible through coupons.

Students staged performances and volunteered at the stalls, honing their organisational skills in the process.

"One of the most awaited events of the year, our school fete, celebrates the true spirit of Children's Day by allowing our students, parents and teachers to rejoice and forget all about academic pressure and stress. Everyone has the right to enjoy the bliss of childhood," said principal Bobby Baxter.

Lions Calcutta Greater Vidya Mandir

Achievers got prizes and a cultural programme was staged at the annual felicitation ceremony hosted by Lions Calcutta Greater Vidya Mandir on November 27.

The theme of the programme, hosted at Rabindra Bhawan Auditorium in Rajpur was Pratibimb — A Reflection of Essence of India. The celebrations were also held to mark the Founder’s Day.

Students were given prizes and certificates both for academic and co-curricular excellence. The cultural programme focused on the vibrant traditions of various states of India.

There were scholarships for the achieving students. The ISC (Class XII) toppers got the Madhuri Foundation Scholarship while the ICSE toppers got the S.N. Bhartia Scholarship.

Besides students with leadership qualities and all-round talent and performance got the Shakuntla Daga Scholarship. Some students who showcased brilliance in academics received the Archana Khemka Scholarship. For the sports stars of the school, there was the Arijit Ghosh Memorial Scholarship.

The third edition of the school's in-house magazine, Horizon, was launched on the occasion. The cultural programme had dance performances reflecting the local flavour of various states. Over 200 students had taken part in it. The performances were rich in art and storytelling. A fashion show by the tiny tots focused on the attires and culture of Indian tribes. The school choir also presented a medley of foot-tapping numbers.

"The students of our school have yet again outdone themselves. Even the young ones from Lower Nursery have co-ordinated and were so well in sync with each other," said principal Kakoli Ghosh.

Delhi Public School, Fulbari

Delhi Public School, Fulbari, hosted its first Model United Nation, Legatio'23, on November 2. Students poured in almost eight months of hard work to stage the event.

The three-day conclave aimed at building students' diplomatic skills, critical thinking and promoting international co-operation among youth. Around 700 students from all over Siliguri took part.

The special guest at the inauguration was actor Rajat Kapoor. The inauguration also had the host school students performing a dance.

Day II of Legatio'23 commenced with a "secretariat debate". The motion was — "Kashmir post abrogation of Article 370 is going to be stable in the long term".

The students also took part in various workshops and discussions on political issues, on the side, meant to ignite their minds with real-time solutions. Celebrity guest DJ Lemon entertained the students in the evening.

Actor Dino Morea was the guest on the final day on November 4. Other dignitaries at the closing ceremony were pro-vice chairman Sharad Agarwal, director Snigdha Agarwal and principal Monowara B. Ahmed of Delhi Public School, Fulbari, Kamlesh Agarwal, president of Bidya Bharti Foundation and vice-chairman of Delhi Public School, Siliguri, Anisha Sharma its principal and Sukanto Ghosh, its vice-principal. The chief guest was Pankaj Kumar, DIG CRPF Group Centre. Also present were principals of other schools.

Delhi Public School, Siliguri, got the best delegation award followed by G.D. Goenka.

"The event was a great experience for all. The Fulbari and Siliguri branches of Delhi Public School, under the aegis of Bidya Bharati Foundation, are inviting celebrities to Siliguri to help the all-round development of children across North Bengal and Sikkim. The programme connected so many children. I was also excited to interact with them," said the host school principal.

Birla High School

The junior section of Birla High School hosted Sabhyata - The Art Mela, an exhibition of the nation's traditional music, art, craft and all that are lost. Put up by students of Classes III, IV and V, the event had students displaying models and handicrafts on myriad themes, inspired by different traditions.

Students explored the rich tapestry of Indian music and dance forms, its cuisine and the colourful patterns of its handicrafts and textiles.

They showcased some signature cuisines from various corners of the nation. Visitors were taken through festivals and sensory experiences. They were also exposed to the spiritual wisdom of ancient scriptures.

There were performances on many traditional dance forms. Parents and visitors were transported to a world of rhythm, melody and movements that left them cheering.

"Exploring the vibrant palette of creativity, Sabhyata - The Art Mela is a celebration of diverse expressions, echoing the rich cultural tapestry of India through young performers," said headmistress Farida Singh.
