The Rotaract Club of Social Revolution (RCSR) launched its book donation drive, ‘Aapki Pustakein, Aapki Pehchan (Your Books, Your Identity’, at the Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, on April 25.
XISS director Joseph Marianus Kujur inaugurated the initiative with a ribbon- cutting ceremony and congratulated the club members. “Knowledge is the tool for a better tomorrow and this initiative will surely bring a positive impact in the society,” he said.
A large number of people donated old and reading material. The books collected as part of the drive will be donated to orphanages, schools and needy students in slum areas of Ranchi and its outskirts.
“The objective of the programme is to make knowledge accessible to all. This will be an ongoing drive throughout the year,” said a spokesperson of the institution.
XISS students’ club coordinator, Shruti Sahay, RCSR president Pratik Dwivedi were present along with other club members
Faculty members Mahua Banerjee, Amit Giri, and Mrityunjay Roy went ahead and donated books, while others will contribute soon.
