The West Bengal Department of Higher Education has officially released the Round 1 Merit List for the West Bengal Centralised Admission Process (WB CAP) 2024 today, Friday, July 12, 2024. This merit list serves as the primary selection criterion for admission into undergraduate programmes offered by participating colleges throughout West Bengal.
The centralised admission process for the first round began on June 24, involving 16 state universities and 461 government and government-aided colleges, and witnessed over 5 lakh applicants. Students had the option for applying up to 25 undergraduate courses from 7,217 different courses.
Steps for Applicants
- Access the Merit List - Applicants can access the Round 1 Merit List by visiting the official WB CAP portal and logging in with their registered credentials. The list will be prominently displayed on the website.
- Review Seat Allotment - Each applicant will be assigned a provisional seat allotment based on their rank in the merit list and their expressed college preferences during the application process. It is crucial for applicants to carefully review the allotted college and programme to ensure alignment with their academic aspirations.
- Seat Acceptance or Declination - Applicants who are satisfied with their allotted seat must proceed with online acceptance. This action confirms their intention to enroll at the designated college. Conversely, applicants who wish to explore alternative options can decline the seat and participate in subsequent rounds of the admission process.
The application window for admissions based on the first-round merit list is open from today, July 12, until July 18, 2024. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications within this timeframe to secure their allotted seats.
The second merit list for WB CAP 2024 will be published on July 23, 2024, following the upgrade round.
