The West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) has officially commenced the long-awaited counselling process for upper primary-level teacher appointments. The counselling, which has already begun today, October 3, is a crucial step toward filling vacant teaching positions in the state's government-aided schools. Shortlisted candidates appearing for counselling will have to download their intimation letter from the official website by entering their roll number and date of birth.
As per the official notification, the first two phases of the counselling are scheduled for October 3 and 4, with three additional sessions planned for later this month. The entire process will be held at Acharya Sadan, where candidates will have the opportunity to secure their teaching positions.
First Two Phase Schedule
- October 3, 2024 - Pure Science (Medium - English, Hindi, Telegu, Urdu)
- October 4, 2024 - History (Medium - Hindi, Nepali, Urdu), Nepali (Medium - Nepali), Geography (Medium - English, Hindi, Urdu)
The WBSSC is set to conduct five rounds of counselling within the span of a month, following the publication of the merit list. A total of 14,052 candidates were listed in the merit list, which was released under the directives of the Kolkata High Court. The initial two rounds of counselling will involve 658 candidates. For the subsequent rounds, scheduled on October 24, 28, and 29, approximately 700 to 800 candidates will participate in each session.
The commission has also set aside 10% of the available seats for para-teachers, ensuring inclusivity in the recruitment process.
With the counselling process now in motion, WBSSC aims to expedite the appointment of teachers in upper primary schools, meeting the educational needs of the state.
