The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has announced the schedule for the first phase of part II counselling for upper primary recruitment. A total of 8,091 candidates have been called for the second phase, which will be conducted on multiple days during November 2024. The counselling will commence on November 11 and continue till November 27, excluding November 12, 13, 15, 17, and 24. All the shortlisted candidates must report by 9 AM on the mentioned dates according to their schedule.
“Intimation letter for Counseling can be downloaded by the concerned candidates from the website of the Commission i.e. www.westbengalssc.com as per instruction to be published by the Commission on 24.10.2024,” the official notification additionally informed.
The commission has also set aside 10% of the available seats for para-teachers, ensuring inclusivity in the recruitment process.
This phase follows the initial counselling sessions that began on October 3, marking the end of an eight-year wait for many candidates. In the earlier rounds, 186 candidates received appointment letters out of the 254 called for counselling. Notably, 68 candidates from the first round did not collect their appointment letters.
So far, a total of 658 candidates have undergone six rounds of counselling. The WBSSC had previously announced that further counselling for remaining candidates would occur on October 24, 25, 28, and 29. As of now, a total of 8,749 candidates have been called across both phases.
In compliance with the Calcutta High Court's order on August 28, the WBSSC published a merit list on September 25, aiming to recruit 14,052 candidates. However, 96 candidates were excluded due to discrepancies in caste and educational documentation.
With the counselling process already ongoing, WBSSC aims to expedite the appointment of teachers in upper primary schools, meeting the educational needs of the state.
