A significant number of schools in West Bengal are yet to complete their students' registration for the Madhyamik 2026, raising concerns about their readiness for the upcoming exams. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has reported that numerous schools have not complied with the online registration process, despite multiple extensions and repeated warnings.
The WBBSE initiated an online registration system starting this year to simplify the process and ensure that all students could be properly registered to sit for the exams. Hence, WBBSE has taken all necessary steps to ensure that students can complete their registration and appear for the exams. Despite extending the deadline multiple times, several schools have failed to comply. The board has published a list of these schools and urged them to complete the registration process with valid reasons.
The WBBSE has announced that revised registration certificates will be distributed from September 11 to September 12, 2024. However, schools that have not completed the registration process by then will not receive their certificates. Furthermore, schools seeking registration certificates after this period must provide a written explanation to the regional offices before they can receive the documents.
As of August 31, 2024, 35 schools have not logged in, 775 schools have not submitted their final data and 2,445 schools are yet to submit their requisite fees for their ninth-grade students. To accommodate these delays, the WBBSE has extended the registration window until September 7, 2024.
“If any further extension is warranted in the interest of the students, the Board shall consider the same only with the imposition of late-fine against all such cases of non-registration by any school,” the official notification informed.
The situation underscores the need for increased awareness and responsibility among schools, students, and parents to ensure a smooth registration process and a successful examination period.
