Enterprise Ireland’s national brand, Education in Ireland, has announced a virtual fair for students in South Asia. The online event will be held on February 26, from 1pm to 5pm.
The fair is aimed at promoting Irish higher education institutions among overseas students and offering them a glimpse of what studying abroad looks like in 2022.
Students from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh are invited to attend the official Government of Ireland event. Students can communicate with representatives from Ireland’s top 18 higher education institutions privately through text and video chat during the virtual showcase. The target of the chat is to help students plan their academic journey abroad. At the participating colleges, universities and institutions of technology, students can pursue globally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Business, Science, Engineering, Arts, Creatives Media and Humanities.
Topics such as admission guidelines, visa process and the -study stay-back option offered to international students will be discussed. Irish Visa Office representatives will also be available to shed light on the visa aspect. Informative seminars on education loans, visa application, student accommodation and post-study employment opportunities have also been planned as a part of the fair.
“With a strategic public health framework, Ireland has lifted almost all its restrictions. A majority of the population has been fully vaccinated and more than 50% have also received a booster shot. While international students have been coming to Ireland since 2020 when the pandemic broke out, we can proudly say that we are continuing the safe welcome of international students and staff this year as well. With eased restrictions and the opening of most public spaces in Ireland, it is a golden opportunity for students from all around the world to fully experience and pursue their study abroad dream in Ireland.” said Brendan Ward, Ireland’s ambassador to India.
Barry O’Driscoll, regional manager, India and South Asia for Education in Ireland, said over 40,000 students from 160 countries around the world are studying in Ireland at present, including roughly 15% from India.
“Ireland is committed to providing excellence in education and to making its graduates market-ready for the future. “Education in Ireland’s fourth edition of the Virtual Showcase will once again present students with an opportunity to explore and find the right courses with job prospects when they interact directly with representatives of Irish higher education institutions. While COVID-19 has posed numerous hurdles for international students seeking to study elsewhere in the world, Ireland’s secure initiatives have been successful in helping students in pursuing their plans here. Most Indian students have chosen to stay back in Ireland for work since the beginning of the pandemic, and have secured jobs locally,” O’Driscoll said.
Irish higher education institutions are recognised as some of the best in the world. Irish universities rank among the top 5% worldwide. Students can opt for over 5,000 programmes with recognised degrees and quality-assured qualifications.
The virtual event will act as a free platform for students to judge their prospects, gain detailed information on courses and admission process and apply directly to reputable Irish institutions such as Dublin Business School and National College of Ireland.
To participate in the free event, students and parents can sign up on the Education in Ireland website.
