The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has rescheduled the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) prelims exam 2024 to December 22, consolidating the examination into a single day. This decision follows backlash from aspirants over the earlier plan to hold the exam over two days and concerns about the use of a normalisation process.
The PCS prelims exam will now take place in two shifts on December 22. The first session is scheduled from 9.30AM to 11.30AM, and the second session will run from 2.30PM to 4.30PM.
The decision to reschedule came after massive protests by aspirants demanding a return to the earlier practice of conducting the exam on a single day. Initially slated for March 17, the exam faced repeated postponements due to administrative reasons. It was later rescheduled for October 27 and then for December 7 and 8 before being consolidated into a single-day exam.
The delays and changes in schedule have heightened concerns among aspirants, especially amid reports of paper leaks and cancellations of other recruitment exams in Uttar Pradesh.
The UPPSC PCS prelims exam comprises two objective type papers: General Studies Paper-I and the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). Each paper is of two hours’ duration, and both are conducted on the same day.
