The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published a Reserve List for the Civil Services Mains Examination 2023, following a request from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). This new list includes 120 candidates who have been recommended to fill remaining posts in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other central Group A and Group B services.
Steps to Check the UPSC CSE Reserve List 2023
- Visit the official website upsc.gov.in.
- Go to the ‘What’s New’ section on the homepage.
- Click on the ‘Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2023’ tab and select the ‘Reserve List’ link.
- The PDF will display on-screen, where candidates can check their roll number and name.
According to the UPSC, the Reserve List comprises 88 general category candidates, 5 from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 23 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 3 from the Scheduled Castes (SC), and 1 from the Scheduled Tribes (ST).
The commission also noted that the candidature of 30 candidates on the reserve list is provisional. The DoPT will be reaching out directly to each of the recommended candidates for further steps.
The main results of the UPSC CSE 2023 were announced on April 16, 2024, with an initial recommendation of 1,016 candidates for key civil services roles. This year’s exam was held for 1,143 vacancies across various departments. The newly published reserve list follows the order of merit and includes candidates after the last recommended candidate from the main result.
