UPSC ESE Prelims Exam Schedule 2025

According to the released time table, the UPSC ESE Preliminary Examination 2025 is scheduled for June 8, 2025, and will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift is set to take place from 9.30AM to 11.30AM, while the second shift will be conducted from 2PM to 5PM on the same day.

UPSC ESE Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

In the first shift, candidates will be required to complete the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Paper (Paper-I). This objective paper will carry 200 marks, and candidates must complete it within two hours.

The second shift will focus on discipline-specific papers (Paper-II) for candidates from Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. This objective paper will be worth 300 marks, and candidates will have three hours to complete it.

The Engineering Services Examination (ESE) selects officers for various central engineering services and is set for June 8. The UPSC had previously rescheduled the ESE preliminary and main exams to allow candidates additional preparation time following recent changes in the recruitment process for Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officers. The government has decided to conduct recruitment for IRMS through both the Civil Services Examinations and the ESE, leading to this adjustment.
