The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting the the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2024 on Sunday, June 16, 2024. The crucial examination, a gateway to prestigious roles in the Indian bureaucracy such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), will take place in two sessions: the first starting at 9:30 am and the second at 2:30 pm.
Candidates appearing for the exam must carry their admit card and a valid ID card containing a photograph. They are required to use a Black Ballpoint Pen to complete the OMR Answer Sheets and Attendance List. Additional necessities include copies of self-photographs as per the instructions provided in the admit card.
While wrist watches are permitted inside the examination hall, candidates are strictly prohibited from using smart watches or those with communication capabilities, as specified by UPSC guidelines.
UPSC aims to fill 1056 vacancies within central government services and departments through this examination, including 40 positions reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category.
The Preliminary exam will comprise two papers of Objective type (multiple-choice questions), collectively carrying a maximum of 400 marks. Candidates should also be aware that negative marking will apply for incorrect answers. For every incorrect answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted.
Candidates are advised to ensure they have all necessary documents and items according to UPSC regulations and reach their examination centre well ahead of time.
