A total of 14,625 students have qualified the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examinations held on June 16. The results of the examination were declared on Monday, July 1 on the official website of UPSC.
With the results being out, the qualified candidates are now eligible to appear for the Civil Services Mains Examination scheduled to commence from September 20.
To appear in the UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination, candidates will have to fill-up the online DAF (Detailed Application Form). Candidates who pass the Mains examination will be called in for the Personality Test, i.e. the final stage of the examination.
Candidates who qualify the examination, will be selected the elite All India Services like the IAS, IPS and IFS, among others.
Mains Exam Pattern
The Mains examination will consist of a total of nine papers. Out of this, the two language papers (Paper A and Paper B) will be of qualifying type while the marks obtained in the other seven papers will be considered for ranking.
This includes Paper I (Essay), Paper II (General Studies I), Paper III (General Studies II), Paper IV (general Studies III), Paper V (General Studies IV), Paper VI (Optional I), Paper VII (Optional II).
Paper A is not compulsory for candidates from the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim.
