TG Sitharam, a former director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Guwahati, takes over as head of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). M. Jagadesh Kumar, head of the University Grants Commission (UGC), handed over the control to him.
Following Anil D. Sahasrabudhe's resignation as AICTE chairman in September 2022, Kumar served as the interim chairman.

In order to join AICTE, he handed over the responsibilities of the IITG, making Parmeshwar K Iyer the official director of IIT Guwahati.
