Education infrastructure provider Teachmint has launched its ‘Chalk & Chai’ initiative to bring educators and school leaders together and enable discussion on best practices, thus unlocking the full potential of the education ecosystem.
The first chapter of Chalk & Chai saw participation from around 350 school representatives. The event was held in hybrid mode with representatives present both in-person and virtually.
A virtual keynote address for the Bangalore chapter was delivered by B.C. Nagesh, minister of primary and secondary education and Sakala of Karnataka. He focused on the transformation of the education sector in India and underlined the need for digitisation of schools.
The discussion revealed some key trends.
· Digitisation needs a teacher-first approach. When introducing tech solutions and new practices, teachers need to be at the forefront of adopting the innovations.
· The adoption of technology has been catalysed by the pandemic. This has compelled the education ecosystem to overcome inhibitions regarding digitisation. To facilitate wider adoption of innovation, tech providers need to create simplified and intuitive solutions. Platforms like Chalk & Chai have become crucial for information exchange.
· There is a big requirement for data on school management and teacher and student progress. To create an actionable path forward, school authorities want to deep-dive into data-driven insights.
