TCS iON, a strategic unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has launched 15 phygital skill development programmes across different sectors in collaboration with Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), one of India’s premier technical and vocational training institutes.

Learners can opt from among three diploma courses and 12 certification courses in Robotics, Automation, Manufacturing and Electronics. The target of the collaboration is to skill and upskill over 60,000 learners to meet the current and future industry needs. To bridge the skill gap, the programmes have been designed in keeping with academic reforms and industry-defined standards.

Candidates have the freedom to learn at their own pace under the mentorship of leading industry experts and NTTF. The enrolled learners can access TCS iON learning and practice centres across India, where they can get hands-on training. The combination of hands-on project work and multimodal digital learning resources is the phygital model that the initiative uses.

“The Indian electronics manufacturing service industry is expected to grow over six times from USD 23.5 billion to reach USD 152 billion by 2025. To realise this growth, the country requires its youth to acquire vocational skills in addition to core education. The TCS iON-NTTF partnership is aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, aimed to make the future workforce skilled and equipped to pursue exciting career opportunities in emerging industries,” said Venguswamy Ramaswamy, global head, TCS iON.

“The race for the skilled youth is now global. The phygital model programmes being launched as a collaborative initiative by NTTF and TCS iON would bridge the huge skill gap among the youth in the country. Our target is to skill and upskill over 60,000 youth to make them job-ready. This unique programme offered as a blended model of hands-on training plus the online content delivery as per NTTF standards would make the youth multi-level certified and skilful, to suit the high-demand job roles across sectors like robotics, automation, Industry 4.0, and Electronics. Successful students will have an opportunity to choose among innumerable job postings listed on the TCS-iON platform,” said N. Reguraj, managing director, NTTF.

Existing students, as well as alumni of various ITI, polytechnics and skill development institutes that have partnered with TCS will be offered these programmes. TCS iON further plans to launch more courses across more industries.
