The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (TNDGE) declared the Class XII or Higher Secondary Plus II results on June 20. The results are available online on the official website and students can access the same by registering with their respective roll numbers and date of birth. The results will remain available on the website for a period of 90 days, after which the students will have to acquire the results directly from the board. This time, the results were also made available to the students via direct SMS. The students received their results on their registered mobile numbers. The exams were conducted between May 5 and May 28 across various designated centres in the state. Around 8 lakh students appeared for the exam, out of which a total of 7,55,998 students cleared the exam.While announcing the results, state education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that 93.76 per cent of the students had cleared the exam – indicating a 1.4 per cent increase from the 92.3 per cent recorded in the last Plus II examination conducted in 2020. This year, 96.32 per cent of female students cleared the exam while the pass percentage of male students was recorded at 90.96 per cent. Around 4,634 students achieved full marks in Commerce, standing out as the highest number of students to secure a centum in the subject, followed by Accountancy and Computer Science. Among other subjects, 1,858 students secured centum in Mathematics, 1,541 in Biology, 1,500 in Chemistry and 634 in Physics. Owing to the pandemic, the Plus II exams in Tamil Nadu were canceled last year. The TNDGE assessed the 12th standard students on the basis of an alternate criteria wherein 50 per cent of the weightage depended on the Class X results, 20 per cent on Class 11 or Plus 1 results, and the remaining 30 per cent relied on Class XII internals and practicals. Of the total appearing students, 99.79 per cent were declared pass in 2021.
