The Supreme Court of India today (September 13) issued a notice to the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in response to a writ petition seeking the disclosure of answer keys and question papers for the NEET PG 2024 examination. The petition, filed by 19 aspirants, calls for several measures to enhance transparency in the examination process.
The petitioners approached the apex court requesting clarity on the normalisation method employed to calculate the NEET-PG 2024 results and demanded the release of raw scores for all candidates. Several candidates have expressed their dissatisfaction with their scores and raised concerns about the lack of transparency in the grading process, particularly in the absence of an officially disclosed answer key.
Despite repeated requests from candidates, the NBE has yet to release the NEET-PG 2024 answer key or announce the cut-off marks. The board also has not made public the raw scores secured by the candidates. In a series of unexpected last minute changes, the NBE recently adopted the normalisation method used by AIIMS for calculating the NEET-PG results, which further intensified calls for greater transparency.
The NEET-PG 2024 exam, conducted by the NBE on August 11, saw its results declared on August 23. Following the results, counselling for candidates is set to begin on September 20. With the issue of transparency now raised in the Supreme Court, the next hearing on the matter has been scheduled for September 20.
The outcome of this hearing could lead to significant changes in the examination process and evaluation methods for future NEET-PG exams, particularly regarding transparency and fairness in result declaration.
