The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 registration is now open for eligible candidates. Applications for JEE Mains 2024 can be submitted through the official website, jeemain.nta.ac.in, with the deadline set for November 30, 2023. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is scheduled to conduct the JEE Main 2024 session 1 exams from January 24 to February 1, 2024.

Additionally, this year's JEE Main 2024 offers students access to a wide range of BTech programmes. Prominent engineering institutes, including the esteemed National Institutes of Technology (NITs) will offer admissions to BTech programmes. While computer science engineering remains a prominent choice, closely followed by electronics and communication, electrical, and mechanical engineering, these institutions have also introduced new courses to cater to the evolving demands of the industry.

Recent years have witnessed a surge in the launch of new BTech programmes across central universities, institutions, and private colleges. Delhi University's Faculty of Technology introduced three distinctive BTech programmes - Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, all of which are accessible based on JEE Main scores.

Notably, NIT Karnataka inaugurated an engineering programme specialising in artificial intelligence in the academic year 2021-22, further expanding the array of choices for aspiring engineers.

The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) stands out with its unique BTech programme in computer science and financial technology. This innovative course is jointly offered by three departments, namely the Department of Humanities and Management, the Computer Science and Engineering Department, and the Mathematics Department.

In addition, MIT has introduced other pioneering BTech programmes this year, including Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as Electronics Engineering with a focus on VLSI design and technology.

Looking ahead, IIT Delhi has set its sights on launching a BTech programme in Industrial Design by the year 2025. The institute already introduced BTech in Engineering and Computational Mathematics in 2021, with admissions being given based on success in the JEE Advanced exam. Successful candidates in the JEE Main exam will be eligible to progress to the JEE Advanced stage.

Meanwhile, in 2022, IIT Guwahati initiated a BTech programme in energy engineering through its School of Energy Science and Engineering, broadening the horizon of specializations available to aspiring engineers.
