The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that registration for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 will open "in due course of time”. In a recent notification, the NTA also revealed a significant update for aspirants: the optional Section B, introduced during the pandemic, will no longer be part of the exam format.

The first session of JEE Main 2025 is scheduled to be held in the last week of January, with the exact dates expected to be confirmed once the NTA releases its annual exam calendar.

Changes to JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern

The optional Section B was added to the JEE Main paper during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide flexibility for students. Candidates were allowed to attempt five out of 10 questions in that section. However, with the return to pre-pandemic norms, the NTA has decided to discontinue this provision.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2025

  • Candidates must have passed class 12 in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
  • While no minimum percentage is required to sit for the exam, those aiming for admission into IITs, NITs, or IIITs must secure at least 75% in their class 12 board exams.

Documents Required for JEE Main 2025 Registration

  • Class 10 certificate
  • Class 12 marksheet
  • Government-issued identity proof (Aadhaar, voter ID, passport)
  • Passport-sized photograph
  • Signature
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)

After the release of the registration link, candidates can register using various identity proofs, including their Aadhaar card, passport number, PAN card, or Digi Locker credentials through the National Academic Depository (NAD) portal.
