Ranchi Women’s College hosted its second graduation ceremony with medals for toppers.
Degrees and medals were awarded to 1,078 students in the programme — 74 students received medals and 15 students got the best graduate award.
The vice-chancellor of Ranchi University, Kamini Kumar, wished the students a happy future while presenting them with gold medals and reminded them the aim of education was not just to get degrees.
“It is also said in the scriptures that learning makes one humble. From humility comes entitlement and from worthiness comes wealth. Dharma and happiness come from the attainment of wealth. Human beings generally lead a life in the pursuit of happiness. Therefore, education is an important means of achieving happiness,” she said.
Ranchi Women’s College principal Shamshun Nehar said the college was committed to creating a positive atmosphere for girls to achieve holistic development of personality with complete confidence.
A souvenir of the college was released by Jharkhand governor Ramesh Bais on the occasion.
“The society has high expectations from all of you. It is expected that you will make proper use of your ability and education and culture received in this college and make your mark at the national level and international level. This title is not just a formality, it is an obligation. Your conduct, behaviour and character will determine what you learn from college,” said Bais who was welcomed with a guard of honour by the NCC cadets of the college.
Ranchi University registrar Mukund Chandra Mehta, controller of examinations Ashish Jha and governing body member Coonoor Kandir also attended the function.
