The PSTET is conducted by the Punjab School Education Board to assess the eligibility of candidates aiming to teach classes I to VIII in government schools across Punjab. The exam consists of two papers: Paper I is for those intending to teach classes I to V, while Paper II is for candidates wishing to teach classes VI to VIII.

Exam Pattern

The PSTET exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark. There is no negative marking, providing candidates with a better chance of maximising their scores. The test is divided as follows:

  • Paper I & Paper II: Each consists of 150 questions, with sections covering Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies (for Paper I), or Science/Social Studies/Art & Craft/Physical Education/Home Science/Urdu/Music/Sanskrit (for Paper II).

Qualifying for the PSTET is mandatory for individuals aspiring to secure teaching roles in government schools in Punjab.
