Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 108th annual session of the Indian Science Congress (ISC) today, 3 January from 10:30 am via video conference. The theme of ISC 2023 is ‘Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment’. This annual season of the Science Congress will have discussions related to issues of sustainable development, empowerment of women and the part played by science and technology to achieve the same. The 108th ISC will take place at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University.
According to the official statement, the discussion will be based on deliberate ways to level up the number of women in teaching, research and industry, to find directions and thereafter provide women with equal access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education, research opportunities and economic participation.
A special programme will also highlight the contribution of women in science and technology which will also have lectures given by renowned women scientists.
Many other programmes will also be organised besides ISC 2023. The Children’s Science Congress will be organised to help stimulate scientific interest whereas the Farmer’s Science Congress will provide them a platform for uplifting the bio-economy and attracting youth to agriculture.
