The first round of admission of postgraduate (PG) students in Bhubaneswar will begin on 16 September 2022. On Thursday the provisional allotment of seats for the first round was conducted. According to the official sources, 56080 students including 35622 girls have applied for PG admission. Out of which only 42016 students have been considered for the final selection.

The second selection merit list of undergraduate (UG) students will get published on Friday. The admission for these students will start on Friday and shall continue till 19 September. Students need to produce the required documents and fees for taking admission to the selected institutes. The second phase of admission is supposed to take place on 24 and 25 September.

The higher education department, which published the provisional allotment of PG seats for the first round on Thursday afternoon, allotted 11,984 students including 7339 female candidates in this round. They will be able to apply for admission on Friday and Saturday.

Berhampur University has topped the first selection cut-off list this year with 79.31% for marine science-marine biology subjects. The highest cut-off for subjects like environmental studies, MBA (tourism and travel studies), marine science-oceanography, electronic science and linguistics have also been set. PN College at Khurda topped the cut-off list with 72.52% in applied geology. Fakir Mohan Balasore has topped the cut-off list in subjects like Urdu, Journalism and mass communication, applied microbiology, environmental science, anthropology (science) and population studies.

Utkal University has set a high cut-off for subjects like public administration, Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology and women's studies. Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo University, Baripada has set the highest cut-off marks in 15 subjects.

According to the official notification, the provisional allotment of seats for second round selection will be issued on 23 September (2 pm). If the seats remain still vacant after the first and second rounds of PG admission, then spot selection will be conducted. Candidates failing to get a seat in the first and second rounds of selection can apply for spot admission on 21, 22 and 23 September. The merit list for spot selection will be published at 2 pm on 28 September, 2022.
