The Telegraph Online Edugraph 18 under 18 Awards Chapter II nominations have now closed. And with the tremendous response that we have received - it is hearty to spot emerging talent in different fields, only waiting to be discovered, across the various cities and towns in Eastern India. The 18 under 18 Awards Chapter ll presented by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, to be held in January 2023, is all set to be bigger than the event last year.
Our initiative this year has received an overwhelming 1200+ nominations from 250+ schools located in the twelve states in Eastern India. Besides major cities like Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Asansol, Guwahati and Patna, we have also received nominations from non-metros and small towns such as Jiaganj, Koderma, Mankundu, Guskara, Nagaon, Gumla.
Principals’ speak
The initiative received a lot of encouragement from schools and principals across Eastern India, who were instrumental in recognising the talents and nominating their students for the awards. A few principals also shared their views on the initiative:

The areas of excellence seen across all registrations encompass a wide variety. From academics, and arts to dance, coding, entrepreneurship, film production, photography, sports and everything else in between. As Team Edugraph now sifts through the nominations, trying to complete the really difficult task of shortlisting the top 50 finalists - preparations are underway for the grand event. The date for the event will be announced soon.
Reaction from Students and Parents
Sidra Asraf, who has been nominated for Chapter II by her school, Loreto Day School, Elliot Road said, “What I truly felt and what was going on in my mind about the event for which my school nominated me… It delights me to acknowledge that a platform this big ,hosts an event and regards me fit enough to pen my views on it. Being truthful with my words and emotions, this event fills an anxious void in my heart which has always been stuffed with ample curiosity and extreme excitement to achieve great things and get recognised as a writer, or precisely, ‘A Poetess’. Ending this little note of mine, I shall only say that I am extremely excited about the event. I take it as being a part of my learning experience and feel it has given me the wings to fly.”
Another student, Asaawari Sahai of Modern High School, speaking about the event said, “A big thanks to the Telegraph for this opportunity and for creating such an unique initiative for children across East and North East India. Considering the success of the first edition last year, the excitement for this year's edition is very high. It's a very prestigious event now especially because children are considered not on the basis of academics or marks but their success and passion in multiple disciplines. The choice of 11 diverse categories ensures that children from every possible sphere are included and their efforts appreciated.”
“I am delighted to know about this wonderful platform where my son's achievements will be showcased. It has been a challenging journey so far trying to balance studies with tennis practice and tournaments and so an opportunity like this will only motivate him to do better and achieve much more,” said Ms Veena Tewary, who’s son has been nominated by St. Xavier's Collegiate School.
