More than 1 lakh students, mostly from Bikaner district of Rajasthan, attended an online career counselling workshop conducted by the National Institute of Career Services (NICS) recently to bridge the industry-academia gap and spread awareness about various choices available to students under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The workshop, titled ‘Pramarsh 2022’, was inaugurated by Minister of State for culture & parliamentary affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal on February 15.
Addressing the students, Meghwal said, “The ongoing technological changes and digital transformation have lead to the need for changing the pedagogy and learning methodology for students. The present fourth industrial revolution era has brought out new dimensions to the career opportunities across the sector.”
The emerging trend of the start-ups is a positive sign and testimony of the brilliance of the younger generation, he added. Appreciating the organisers’ efforts, Meghwal said that such career counselling workshops will help students make more informed decisions.
During the workshop, students from private and government schools received guidance from experts from different sectors including business, policy planning, industries associations, art, culture, media, health, architecture, biotechnology, and Finance and Marketing.
Surendra Patawari, chairman of Gemini Corporation from Belgium; Bindeshwari Pathak, founder of Sulabh International; Rajender Singh Pahl, CEO of Star Promotion from Huston; Rajendra Ratanu, JS DPIIT; Nari Shakti Awardee Ruma Devi and others joined the workshop as special guests and inspired students with their words.
Before this career counselling workshop, around 1000 teachers were trained as career ambassadors in all schools of Bikaner for smooth and purposeful execution of the entire project.
The ongoing workshop is not limited to training of teachers and students. Offline and online career assessment and a digital career library will also be made available for the students.
