The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is slated to release the UPSC CSE 2024 Notification today, marking the commencement of registrations for the Civil Services Preliminary examination (UPSC CSE Prelims 2024). Aspiring candidates will be able to access the notification on the official websites - upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in. Simultaneously, registrations for the Indian Forest Services (IFS) Prelims through CSE will also kickstart today, Feb 14.

Educational Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a graduate degree from a recognised university to be eligible for UPSC CSE 2024.
  • Individuals with recognised professional qualifications such as engineering or medical degrees are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates awaiting results of a qualifying examination can also participate in the Prelims. However, they must furnish proof of the requisite qualifying examination while filling out Detailed Application Form-I (DAF 1) for the Main examination.
  • In exceptional cases, the commission may consider candidates lacking the aforementioned qualifications if they have passed an examination conducted by another institution, provided the standard of the examination meets the commission's criteria for admission to the Civil Services Examination.
  • As for candidates who have passed the final professional MBBS or equivalent examination but have not completed their internship by the time of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, they will be provisionally admitted on the condition of submitting the original degree or a certificate from the relevant competent authority during the interview phase.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates aspiring for the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service, and the Indian Police Service must be citizens of India. For other services, candidates can either be citizens of India or meet specific criteria related to citizenship or origin.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old and not more than 32 years old as of the cut-off date mentioned in the notification. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable to candidates belonging to reserved categories.

According to the UPSC exam calendar, the application window will remain open until March 5, with the examination scheduled for May 26.
