The National Institute of Immunology (NII) has invited applications from eligible candidates for its PhD programme 2022-23.

The online application window will remain open from December 24, 2021, to January 18, 2022.

The programme will start on July 4, 2022, and laboratories and thesis supervisers will be allotted by July 11, 2022, based on interactions with faculty members in the candidates’ area of interest and mutual preference.

NII currently provides a Junior Research Fellowship of Rs 31,000 per month to the selected candidates. Awardees of fellowships from CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT or and DST may avail them as per rules of the respective funding agency.

NII is a residential campus and shared hostel accommodation will be provided to all the students admitted to the programme.

Applicants must have completed MSc in any branch of science (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), MTech, MBBS, MVSc, MPharm, Integrated MSc or equivalent qualification are required from a candidate as per the norms of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, to be eligible for the PhD programme. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply.

To qualify, candidates must have scored at least 60% in the aggregate in the Senior Secondary Certificate exam and 55% in bachelor’s programme.

NII will select candidates for the PhD. programme through a computer-based entrance examination and a joint graduate entrance examination in Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS-2022).

Candidates will be shortlisted for an interview based on their scores in either NII-2022 or JGEEBILS-2022.

The list of candidates shortlisted for interviews will be available on the NII website and notice board on or before March 10.

Interviews will be held online from June 7 to 14. The final list of selected candidates will be displayed on the NII website and notice board of the institute within a week of the final interview.

Candidates selected will be enrolled for the PhD programme of NII in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi.
