As many as 3,744 of the 60,202 postgraduate (PG) medical seats still open for 2021–2022 after counselling, the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reported to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
In addition, the minister responded to a question by saying that 197 seats for MBBS programmes remained open after counselling out of the 92,065 undergraduate seats that will be available in 2021–2022.
NEET UG is administered annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA). A total of 17,64,571 students showed up for the exam in 2022 compared to 15,44,273 in 2021.
Mandaviya added that 1,425 PG seats in 2020–21 and 4,614 seats in 2019–2020 were unfilled following counselling. Additionally, he stated that 274 places for MBBS in 2018-2019 and 273 seats for 2019-2020 have remained vacant.
