National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will soon be releasing the new syllabus for Grade 3 and Grade 6 for the upcoming academic session 2024-25. The new syllabus will be framed in line with the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE).

In a letter to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), NCERT said that it will also be providing the board, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) with a syllabus bridge programme for Grade 6 and clear guidelines for Grade 3.

The purpose of these programmes is to facilitate a seamless transition for students to new pedagogical perspectives and areas of study, particularly Arts, Physical Education, Vocational Education and 'The World Around Us (for Grade 3).

In its letter to the CBSE, NCERT has also advised the board to formulate a strategy to engage students of Grades 3 and 6 in playful and activity-based learning at the start of the new academic year, ensuring a holistic environment for students encompassing arts, physical education and social sciences.

NCERT has also asked CBSE to inform schools to revise their school timetables to incorporate the new syllabi for classes 3 and 6.

According to NCERT, this approach will not only ease the students' adaptation to the new curriculum but will also generate awareness about the updated educational perspectives among parents and the wider community.
