The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will be conducting a National Assessment Survey (NAS) in government and private schools soon to see children's learning skills. The survey is scheduled to begin from November 12, 2021.
The NAS 2021 will cover lakhs of children in more than 700 districts. The survey aims to find out the learning skills of children and the changes that are required in the curriculum post the pandemic.
The survey will use Maths, EVS, Science as subjects to evaluate the learning capabilities of students.
According to Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister, the survey to assess children's learning skills is likely to be held in November this year.
NCERT will be conducting the National Sample Survey (NSS) to make the assessment for children from classes III, V, VIII and X. Previously the NSS was conducted on November 13, 2017 covering over 22 lakh students of Classes III, V and VIII. On February 5, 2018, the NSS was conducted for Class X.
The NCERT is also providing counselling to address the mental health concerns of the students in the schools which are reopening after Covid-19. Experts and officials of the NCERT will connect with the students online to deal with their mental and social concerns. Experts will be talking to students from classes VI to XI.
According to NCERT, students of Classes VI and XI can connect with them through their official youtube channel and PM eVidya DTH TV channel. Students can interact live with experts every Friday on toll free numbers 8800440559, 8448440632.

A total of 38,87,759 students enrolled in 1.23 lakh schools in 733 districts across 36 states and union territories will be tested through this survey. The procedure will begin from 10.30 AM on November 12,2021.
Tripura’s education minister, Ratanlal Nath has said a total of 38,760 students from 898 schools will take part in NAS 2021. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had assigned the work to NCERT and SCERT in the State to initiate the survey.
