The Museum of Art & Photography, Bengaluru, invites applications for a four-month intensive ‘Training Course in Conservation & Restoration of Paper – Prints, Drawings and Maps’ as part of the MAP-Tata Trusts Art Conservation Initiative.
This free training course will be conducted from February 1 to April 20, 2022. Training will be held at MAP in Bengaluru for three months, followed by a one-month internship at MAP or at another approved art conservation centre. Interested candidates can apply till December 31, 2021.
Applicants should be practising conservators. The training course is limited to up to five participants. After successfully completing the course, participants will get certificates.
The programme is designed to be an intensive, hands-on training course that will equip trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge to identify and understand deterioration of paper objects and critically think, develop and implement conservation and restoration of prints, drawings and maps following scientific methods within acceptable ethical and professional frameworks.
The course will be conducted by senior art conservator Lalit Pathak, a leading expert in paper conservation. Visiting subject specialists comprising experts in paper conservation and allied fields will be invited for conducting specific sessions.
Interviews of the shortlisted participants will be held by a selection panel online. The selected candidates will be informed by email.
The participants will be assessed regularly by the faculty conducting the sessions. The training course will conclude with a final written assignment, practical assessment and viva-voce.
