The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has begun the application process for recruiting interns as part of Amrit Mahotsav. The deadline to apply for the internship programme is February 15.

There are 75 internships available in a single term of three months, from April 2022 to June 2022.

Selected candidates will be required to join the ministry in April 2022. Each intern will be engaged for a minimum period of month and a maximum period of three months.

Interns will be paid a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month and the cost of one-time air travel subject to economy class air fare between the state capital and Delhi, from the domicile state or from the college or university of the selected candidates will be provided.

Interns would be responsible for their boarding and lodging in Delhi during the period of their internship.

Who is eligible to apply:

  • Internships at MEA headquarters are for Indian citizens with a minimum educational qualification of a graduate degree from a recognised university.
  • Final-year students, whose internship is a mandatory part of their final year curriculum are also eligible to apply. The upper age limit to apply is 25 years.

How to apply:

  • Candidates will have to go to the official website https://www.internship.mea.gov.in/.
  • On the homepage, click on the “Register” tab on the top right.
  • Enter your registration details and click on submit.
  • The form will be displayed on screen, fill the form, upload required documents and click on submit.

Dates to remember:

  • Applications for 2022-23 has (Term I & Term II combined) begun from February 1, 2022.
  • Deadline for receiving applications is on February 15.
  • Shortlisted candidates and calls for interviews will be announced on February 18.
  • Interviews will be conducted from February 24.
  • Announcement of selected candidates and allocation of divisions will be declared on February 28.
  • Start of internships 2022-23 (Term I and Term II combined) will be from April 1.

The selection process will be conducted online. Aspiring and eligible candidates will have to register on the internship portal and obtain access credentials to participate in the process. The selection process will consist of two stages, preliminary screening and personal interview.

The selection process will follow a quota system where applicants belonging to all 28 states and eight Union territories will be considered.

A minimum of 30% of the 75 internships may be filled by women candidates. Preference will be based on academic performance assessed by percentage of marks obtained in classes XI, XII and graduation exams.
