Students of Class XI, their parents and school teachers received tips on staying happy and healthy during the pandemic at a webinar hosted by the West Bengal school education department.
The webinar titled The Mind of Students During COVID Time comprised two sessions — one for students and the other for parents and teachers — with experts in clinical psychology. The virtual event focused on teaching, learning-related topics, issues pertaining to mental happiness of students and their social activities.
The long closure of schools has greatly impacted students despite online classes. The absence of a physical classroom and lack of exposure to peers has left students alienated.
The webinar was chaired by Papia Nag, Head Teacher, Sakhawat Memorial Girls School. The panel consisted of Rima Mukherjee, consultant psychiatrist and director, Crystal Minds; Payel Ghosh, parenting consultant; and Poushali Das, psychologist and consultant special educator.

Education helps us overcome the challenges that life throws at us. The pandemic made education difficult to access. Along with the entire country,schools, colleges and other educational institutions were shut down too.
We do not know when the pandemic will be over but all of us should have a target to overcome this situation and learn from it. It is my belief that teachers, students and parents will definitely overcome this pandemic but it is not possible to do that without staying aware about the safety protocol.

It is up to us to achieve a peaceful state of mind and a peaceful home ambience. It might seem impossible amid the pandemic and with so much grim news all around but with all the uncertainty that we are going through we tend to forget that our children are also going through the same in their own way. So, we must always try to make our home a transparent place with as little domestic tension as possible.

We all have had a set routine to lead and live our individual lives. We sleep at a certain time, eat at a certain time, study, play and do many other things all according to our routine. The pandemic broke that routine. This was an out-of- syllabus problem for us. We did not know how to tackle it or solve it. We should validate the things we learned during this pandemic. Online classes, work from home, online exams and many more things. We humans have the power to think, so we have come up with some sort of remedy to every uncertain situation. We should always keep in mind what positive learning we are getting from any negative situation. This should be addressed by everyone and this, I believe, will help us tackle the pandemic with much less stress and pressure.
