The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the deadline for choice-filling and choice-locking for NEET UG 2024 counselling. Candidates now have until 11.59PM today, August 21, to finalise their course and college choices. The choice locking facility, initially set to close on August 20, will now be available from 5PM today. This extension applies to candidates participating in the first round of counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats.

As of yesterday, the MCC website announced, “Choice locking will start from 05:00 PM Tomorrow and choice filling will end by 11:59 PM Tomorrow i.e. 21.08.2024." Both NEET UG choice-filling and locking facilities were scheduled to be closed on August 20, however, the MCC has extended the deadline by a day.

Steps for NEET UG 2024 Choice-Locking

  1. Visit the official website mcc.nic.in.
  2. Click on the online counselling registration link.
  3. Enter the candidate’s roll number and password.
  4. Access the choice filling option and list the candidate’s preferred courses and colleges.
  5. Lock the choices after reviewing them and click submit.

Recently, the counselling body also released the seat matrix for this year, listing 26,582 available seats across MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing programmes under the All India Quota (AIQ), Central Universities, Deemed Universities, AIIMS, ESIC, and JIPMER institutes.

The NEET UG 2024 counselling will take place in four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (Mop-up Round), and a Stray Vacancy Round, with the entire process expected to conclude by October 30, 2024.

Candidates are reminded to complete the registration and choice filling within the given deadlines to ensure they are considered for seat allotment, which will be based on merit, preferences, and seat availability.

The NEET UG 2024 exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), took place on May 5, 2024, with results declared on June 14, 2024. The counselling process is vital for medical aspirants aiming to secure seats in top institutions across the country.
