Tamilisai Soundararajan, the lieutenant governor of Puducherry, announced on Tuesday that the territorial government plans to open a medical school that will provide an MBBS programme in Tamil.
After taking part in a ceremony honoring older persons, she told reporters that she will speak with the Chief Minister Rangasamy to figure out the logistics of opening a medical school that would teach in Tamil.
She announced that a committee would be formed to create Tamil medical textbooks. She mentioned that neither the Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor the Home Minister Amit Shah were forcing a particular language on the populace. She cited the Prime Minister's assertion that students could benefit from attending professional colleges that offer instruction in their native tongue.
