The University of Lucknow announced that it will offer dual degrees to students from the next academic session i.e 2023-24. The university’s admission committee gave its nod for the implementation of dual degree policy announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
A university official reportedly said that the admission committee approved the implementation of UGC guidelines for dual degree programmes and students will be allowed to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously. The modalities for the new step will be finalized later, as per report.
On 12 April, UGC chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar announced in a virtual meeting that students will now be able to pursue two full-time academic programmes simultaneously either at the same university or two different universities.
According to the UGC guidelines, a student can pursue two full-time academic programmes in offline mode given that the class timings of one programme don’t overlap with timings of the other programme. Students can also pursue one course in full-time physical mode with another in online or open, distance learning mode. Moreover, the guidelines also allow students to pursue one online programme with another online programme.
