The Lexicon Group of Institutes will soon open the Lexicon Institute of Hotel Management in Pune, Maharashtra, a hotel management college that will be led by distinguished leaders and veterans of the hospitality industry.
The main aim of the institute will be to usher in a new era for hospitality education in India.
Located at Wagholi area of Pune, the institute will offer a three-year programme in Tourism and Hospitality with international tie-ups, giving students global exposure.
The Lexicon Institute of Hotel Management stems from hoteliers who formed the governing council, coming together to create a college that will be led by the industry and for the industry. The governing council includes Nasir Shaikh, a hotelier with over two decades in the hospitality, and former general manager – Marriott International and chairman of the Marriott India Business Council, Gurmeet Singh (chief mentor – Lexicon IHM and former senior area director of Human Resources), an industry veteran, and Anup Seth (director, placements and corporate relations), with over 15 years of robust experience across fields in brands such as Taj Hotels, Hyatt and Marriott International
Gladwin Rego, an academician with over two decades of experience, is the principal of the institute. Rego is also an empanelled educator with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and has over the years nurtured young and eager minds to become the leaders they are today.
The institute endeavours to make the curriculum industry relevant and industry needed which means that the focus lies in creating ‘Day Zero Professionals’. Through the course of the programme students will get 49+ certifications, which will be designed with the help of the advisory council that includes Neeraj Govil - senior vice president at Marriott International; Kush Kapoor - CEO, Roseate Hotels and Resorts; Bibhor Srivastava - managing director, ITP Media India, Ranju Alex - market vice president, West India, Marriott International, Amit Midha - vice president – Operations, India, DLF, Vineet Mishra - complex general manager, Pullman and Novotel – Aerocity, Accor to name a few.
Through the three-year programme, students can accumulate credits based on their knowledge and skill set through which they get an opportunity to accumulate credits to pursue further studies with an international partner.
The institute has started the admission process for its first batch which will commence in June 2022.
