Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) is set to conduct the board examinations for Class X (Matriculation) and Class XII (Intermediate) students in offline mode from March 24 with strict compliance to COVID-19 protocols, JAC officials said on February 24.
This year, about eight lakh students of Class X and XII will appear for the exams across the 24 districts in Jharkhand, officials said.
"We are all prepared for taking the board examinations for Class X and Class XII from March 24. The examination will take place in offline mode. However, all COVID guidelines including social distancing and wearing face mask will be ensured at the examination places."
The council released the exam date sheet on February 23. According to this date sheet, the board examination for Class X will conclude on April 20, while the intermediate examination will end on April 25.
"The number of students appearing in both examinations will be higher than the previous year," Singh said.
The exams will be conducted in two sittings. Exams for Class X students will be conducted in the first sitting, while Class XII students will appear for their exams in the second sitting, JAC officials said.
JAC has not conducted offline board exams since 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jharkhand government had to cancel the examinations in 2021 due to a rise in COVID cases in the state.
Around 7.5 lakh students of Class X and XII were promoted to higher classes without exams based on their performance in Class IX and XI last year.
