The Bombay High Court yesterday didn’t accept a plea to postpone the JEE Main 2023 exam and said that rescheduling the engineering entrance exam now will have a “cascading effect”. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the registration process for the JEE Main 2023 first attempt on 12 January, 2023.
Candidates will have to submit the NTA JEE Main application form 2023 by visiting the official website- jeemain.nta.nic.in, before the registration deadline. The bench of acting Chief Justice SV Gangapurwala and J Sandeep V Marne said “Any orders passed to postpone may have a cascading effect. If a student does not fare well in JEE January, he can compete in April. Extraordinary circumstances don't seem to exist. It wouldn't be appropriate to restrain the respondent from conducting a pan India exam.”
The petition filed before the high court also sought relaxation in JEE Main 2023 eligibility criteria. The court added, “As far as the challenge to the eligibility criteria is concerned, the counsel for petitioner seeks time to file rejoinder and argue. It will be relevant at the time of admission to the course after June 2023.”
Candidates have requested the NTA to postpone the JEE Main 2023 exams due to clashes with some state board exams and pre-boards. As per the latest update, NTA will be holding JEE Main exam 2023 as per the schedule announced earlier.
As per official schedule, the first attempt of JEE Mains 2023 exam date will be held between 24 to 31 January and the April session will be held from 6 to 12 April, 2023.
