The results of ‘Ishan Uday for North Eastern Region’ 2020-21 scholarship programme have been declared on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), the University Grants Commission (UGC) stated in a circular.
Launched by UGC in 2014-15, the scholarship programme aims to provide equal opportunities for higher studies to students in the north eastern region of the country, with focus on enhancing professional and technical skills of students and improving employability.
UGC provides 10,000 fresh scholarships every year for general degree courses and technical and professional courses, including medical and para-medical courses.
Only domicile students of north eastern region who have passed class XII from a school situated in the region are eligible to apply for the scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship, the annual income of the candidate’s parents should not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh, NSP guidelines state.
According to NSP, an amount of Rs 5400 per month for general degree courses and Rs 7800 per month for technical and professional courses, including medical and para medical courses, will be given through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiaries.
Candidates are advised to visit the National Scholarship Portal to check the status of their application, the UGC circular issued on May 6 stated.
